Dairy Industry Adopts Animal Care Guidelines

In an effort to reinforce the importance of caring for dairy cattle at all stages of their lives, dairy industry leaders created a basic educational poster that will be distributed to all dairy producers across America. Free Placemats Honor Dairy Farmers’ Contributions in Pennsylvania

We are pleased to offer free paper placemats celebrating Pennsylvania’s dairy farm families and their many contributions to the Commonwealth developed by the Pennsylvania Dairy Promotion Program.

These full-color, two-sided placemats share the story of Pennsylvania’s dairy farmers on one side and offer dairy activities for children on the flip side. Measuring 14 inches long by 10½ inches wide, the versatile placemats can be used at a variety of venues, including local banquets or meetings, farm tours and local family restaurants. Created to increase the awareness of dairy farmers and the healthy products they produce, the placemats come shrink-wrapped in packs of 600.

To order your free placemats, please e-mail or call (717) 787-6903. There is no maximum, but placemats are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Please allow two to three weeks for delivery.

Internet Offers New Ways to Communicate with Consumers

Dairy producers are helping reach the public through dairyfarmingtoday.org. This checkoff-funded Web site educates the public about how dairy farmers care for their animals, land and water to provide safe, wholesome milk.

A new feature on the Web site is an e-postcard option for producers (and others) to send e-cards to friends and family, while encouraging them to visit the site, too. You can link to this feature directly from the home page. Visit the site and recommend it to your neighbors and community members who want to learn more about modern dairy farming.
