Career Connection Charter High School (CCCHS) ventured to Arsenal Elementary School to conduct a nutrition education event for the first-grade students. Using an interactive classroom activity developed by the National Dairy Council®, high school students introduced the Milk Group and identified milk, cheese and yogurt as foods that help build strong bones. Students learned that a healthful diet, including three servings a day of dairy, and plenty of activity help build the strongest bones possible.

“The kids were so interested in our talk, and it was such a fun experience to work with the little ones,” said Charlene Highfield, a CCCHS student who took part in one of the presentations. “I would do this again.”

In addition, CCCHS created several “got milk?®” posters featuring the Arsenal Elementary faculty to support the 3-A-Dayof Dairy message. Lisa Allen, the CCCHS nurse and wellness coordinator, gave the elementary teachers grade-appropriate educational packets to support their nutrition education efforts.
